Spirit Outstanding Student Award 

The Spirit Outstanding Award is given to a student who embodies leadership, citizenship, and involvement, and belongs to an underrepresented minority group including the LGBTQIA community, Native American students, African-American students, and students from underrepresented cultural, racial, or religious identities.

Spirit Activism Award

The Spirit Activism Award is given to a student who embodies leadership, citizenship, and community involvement, demonstrating these characteristics through their achievements and work towards social justice.

Cole-Tierney Award 

The Cole-Tierney Award winner is to be chosen by a committee of MSU students, faculty, and staff. The committee awards the scholarship to an MSU student of African-American heritage who merits scholarship assistance. The selection process shall evaluate candidates on the basis of achievement, leadership, citizenship and involvement in extra-curricular activities.


 

Recipients of the 2017 Diversity Awards:

 

  • Spirit Outstanding Student Award: Recognizes a current student at Montana State University who embodies leadership, citizenship, and involvement and also identifies as a member of an underrepresented minority group. 
    • Awarded to Saurabh Tulsankar 

 

 

  • Spirit Activism Award: Recognizes a current student who embodies leadership, citizenship, and community involvement, demonstrating these characteristics through his/her achievements and work towards social justice.
    • Awarded to Amber Roberts

 

 

  • The Cole-Tierney Award is given to an undergraduate MSU student of African American heritage who exemplifies leadership, citizenship, and involvement.
    • Awarded to Jachike Madubuko
