Cutworm Monitoring Maps for Southern Alberta, CO, ID, MT, ND, Western NE, NV SD, UT and WY.

To view the origional Moth count bar graphs choose "Fall Adult/Moth Survey Graphs" from the "View Results" column at Cutworm.org.

The maps listed below are calculated using the GIS GRASS 5.0, and are based on 1) Risk warnings estimated by the model at Cutworm.org, 2) near-real time temperature data from numerous AgriMet , HydroMet, National Weather Service , and RAWS weather stations, 3) historical average temperature data from numerous stations, 4) PRISM monthly max and min temperature maps, and 5) inverse-distance squared interpolations of differences between PRISM map-based and real-time degree-day calculations.  See More info. on methodology for creating Degree Day maps. Also try out our new Degree-day Mapping Calculator for more control over calculation and mapping options. NOTE: you may need to use your browser's RELOAD or REFRESH button for latest images, Updated daily 9:15-10:08 am Pacific time.

Additional factors useful for Cutworm Risk warnings:
army cutworm -
degree days, moisture, larval density, larval size, moth counts (same as above),  combined risk warning;
pale western cutworm -
degree days, moisture, larval density, larval size, moth counts (same as above),  combined risk warning;

To view these factors (including threshold information) in table format choose "Tables with threshold information" instead of  "Color maps", from the "View Results" column at Cutworm.org. The origional Moth count graphs are linked at "Fall Adult/Moth Survey Graphs" in the "View Results" column at Cutworm.org.
