MSU is committed to empowering people and transforming lives. The educational needs of Montanans are as diverse as the state’s landscape. Through a broad variety of programs and distance delivery, MSU serves many Montanans.
MSU offers a wide array of educational and enrichment opportunities including lectures, classes, special events, conferences, performances and workshops for individuals of all ages. Lifelong learning and exploration of new ideas is crucial to improving quality of life.
MSU is home to the Museum of the Rockies, Montana PBS, and Montana Shakespeare in the parks among other statewide programs that bring educational and cultural offerings to all regions of Montana. In addition, Extended University leverages technology to mobilize the rich resources of campus so students of all ages take advantage of the learning opportunities that great instruction that emerging technologies make possible.
David B. Orser Executive Speakers Forum
The David B. Orser Executive Speakers Forum brings accomplished and inspiring professionals to the College of Business to deliver large, open-forum lectures and to share their expertise and experience with students in the classroom. David B. Orser, a 1966 MSU graduate, began funding the program in 1988 to inspire MSU business students to pursue careers as innovative, responsible and ethical business leaders. Distinguished guest speakers have included Jonathan Howlett, Director of Advertising for BBC Worldwide, Alan Rypinski, founder of Armor All and World Pog Foundation, and Ian B. Davidson, chairman of Davidson Companies and D.A. Davidson & Co.
Museum of the Rockies
The Museum of the Rockies inspires visitors to explore the rich natural and cultural history of America’s Northern Rocky Mountains. In partnership with Montana State University, the Museum reaches diverse communities with engaging exhibits, educational programs, and original research that advance public understanding of the collections. http://www.museumoftherockies.org/
Since 1984, Montana PBS has delivered public television service to the state of Montana. KUSM’s award winning local productions combined with national PBS expertise in news, children’s, and science/nature programs has helped establish and build its reputation as a primary source for high quality television that educates and inspires. MSU Summer Reading
One Book - One Bozeman is a community-wide read program to promote community building and literacy through reading a common book. Under the auspices of a program designed by the Library of Congress, cities and towns across America launched community-wide read programs starting over a decade ago. After a successful 2009 combining of MSU Summer Reading/Freshman Convocation programs and One Book – One Bozeman, we have decided to continue the efforts and make these events a seamless 2010 venture. Montana State Online
Montana State Online supports a growing number and variety of online undergraduate courses, professional development opportunities, and graduate certificate and degree programs. It boasts one of the oldest and most established network of online graduate science courses, The National Teachers Enhancement Network (NTEN). A program of the Extended University Office of Continuing Education, Wonderlust is membership-based and promotes the development and delivery of exciting learning opportunities for people who want to study with others.
