CUTWORM

Species: pale western cutworm (predominant in the north; more difficult to control because it remains underground) and army cutworm (numerous in southern MT; emerge at night to feed)

Yield reductions: when more than 2 PWC or 4 AC are found in one foot of row.

Favorable conditions: drought stress, stage of plant development, and size of worms.
